Thus, the new zoom for mirrorless cameras boasts a weight of just 1,335 grams in its Sony E version (1,345 in the case of the L-Mount model), almost half a kilo less than the 1,805 grams of the 70-200 millimeter zoom for SLR cameras.
In terms of dimensions, the new model has a diameter of 90.6 millimeters and a length of 207 millimeters (205 for the L-Mount model), while the dimensions of the zoom for SLR cameras are 94.2 by 202.9 millimeters.

Sigma has also revealed that the new lens features an optical construction consisting of 20 elements arranged in 15 groups. This assembly includes eight low dispersion lenses (two SLD and six FLD, whose performance is equivalent to that of fluorite) and three aspherical elements.
High expectations
Beyond the details revealed today, it has already been revealed that the Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS | Sports incorporates an HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) focusing motor and a stabilizer based on the new OS2 algorithm.
As expected for a lens in the Sports range, it features a sealed construction that is resistant to adverse weather conditions.
Furthermore, as can be seen in the images published by Sigma to date, it incorporates an aperture ring with a de-click switch, making it especially interesting for video recording.
