DJI Avata 360 (DJI RC 2) – FPV drone with spherical 360° camera in 8K

FPV drone with 360° spherical camera with 1-inch equivalent sensor, 8K/60fps HDR video, 120MP photo, omnidirectional obstacle detection, and O4+ transmission up to 20km — with DJI RC 2 controller

The DJI Avata 360 (DJI RC 2) is DJI's first FPV drone with an integrated 360° spherical camera featuring a 1-inch equivalent sensor, launched on March 26, 2016. It records 8K/60fps HDR video or captures 120MP/16K 360° photos with a single shot, allowing for free reframing in post-production from any perspective. It combines two modes in a single drone: 360° mode with full spherical coverage and single-lens mode for classic 4K/60fps recording . Features include omnidirectional obstacle sensing with active front-facing LiDAR for nighttime scenes, O4+ Full HD video transmission up to 20km, 42GB of internal memory, Wi-Fi 6 for 100MB/s transfer, 23 minutes of flight time, and integrated propeller guards.

What is the DJI Avata 360's 360° camera and why does it change the way drone filming is done?

On a conventional drone, the camera points in only one direction—the pilot has to orient the drone where they want to film and plan the framing during flight. If the drone flies too far or the angle isn't right, the shot is lost. The DJI Avata 360 records the entire environment simultaneously in 360° during flight—the pilot flies freely without worrying about framing, and in post-production selects the exact angle, perspective, and framing for each moment. A single flight shot can generate multiple clips with completely different perspectives—front, rear, side, top, asteroid effect, or dolly zoom—without repeating the flight.

Two modes in one drone: 360° and single target

The Avata 360 doesn't force you to choose between 360° drone and classic FPV drone—both modes coexist in the same device. In 360° mode, the camera captures the entire sphere at 8K/60 fps with active omnidirectional obstacle detection. In single-lens mode, the front camera records in 4K/60 fps with the classic FPV aesthetic of the Avata line, featuring an integrated propeller guard for close-range flights. Switching between modes is done via the app without any hardware modifications.

Is the DJI Avata 360 (DJI RC 2) the drone you need?

It's for you if…

  • You create aerial content and want maximum creative flexibility in post-production — 8K 360° recording allows you to reframe from any angle without repeating the flight.
  • You need an FPV drone for aerial filming with precise camera control from the screen — the RC 2 with integrated screen is the option for adjusting parameters without FPV goggles.
  • You fly in environments with obstacles and need extra safety — omnidirectional detection with active LiDAR in night mode covers all angles in 360° mode.
  • You want the entry-level Avata 360 system with the possibility of expanding with additional batteries or N3 Goggles separately as your usage evolves.

It's not for you if…

  • You need autonomy for long sessions from day one: the Fly More Combo includes three batteries and a charging hub for more than an hour of available flight time.
  • Looking for an immersive FPV experience with goggles from the very first flight? The Motion Fly More Combo with N3 Goggles and RC Motion 3 is the complete package for that purpose.

Frequently Asked Questions about the DJI Avata 360

When will the DJI Avata 360 be released?

The official launch of the DJI Avata 360 is scheduled for March 26, 2026. It is available in three configurations: with only the DJI RC 2 controller (CPFP032003), the Fly More Combo with the DJI RC 2 and three batteries (CPFP031701), and the Motion Fly More Combo with DJI Goggles N3 and RC Motion 3 (CPFP031803). Is DJI going to launch a 360-degree drone?

Yes. The DJI Avata 360 is DJI's first FPV drone with an integrated spherical 360° camera, launched on March 26, 2016. It records 8K/60fps HDR video in 360° with a 1-inch equivalent sensor and allows reframing from any perspective in post-production.

What is the difference between 360° mode and single-target mode on the DJI Avata 360?

In 360° mode, the drone records the entire sphere simultaneously in 8K/60 fps with active omnidirectional obstacle detection—the pilot flies freely and chooses the framing in post-production. In single-lens mode, the front camera records in 4K/60 fps with the classic FPV aesthetic of the Avata line, without spherical capture. Switching between modes is done via the app.

What is the difference between the DJI Avata 360 with RC 2, the Fly More Combo, and the Motion Fly More Combo?

The base model includes the drone and one battery with the RC 2 controller. The Fly More Combo adds two additional batteries and a charging hub for extended sessions. The Motion Fly More Combo replaces the RC 2 with the DJI Goggles N3 and the Motion 3 controller for immersive first-person FPV flight, and also includes three batteries and a charging hub.

How much internal memory does the DJI Avata 360 have?

42GB of internal memory—enough for about 30 minutes of 8K 360° video. It also accepts microSDXC cards up to 1TB. Transfer speeds via Wi-Fi 6 reach up to 100MB/s—1GB in 10 seconds—directly from the DJI Fly app without removing the drone.
